Hi. Welcome back to part 9 of this multipart series about passive income ideas. In this part, we are going to talk about sustainability passive income ideas. To put it nicely, Eco-Income. The previous parts reached our passive income ideas to 47. In today’s part, we will pick up from there. This is the 9th part meaning there are 8 more parts before this. Sustainability / Eco-Income Passive Income Ideas.
These are passive income ideas that have something to do with the green energy movement that is ongoing. The world is facing the global warming crisis. Hence, there are a lot of efforts to reverse the global warming. This is the global green movement that has taken over allover the world. As a part of this movement, there are a lot of things that people are doing to such as use of electric cars and ditching fossil fuels.
Therefore, in today’s part, we are going to talk about Eco-friendly ways that you can create a passive income.
Idea #48. Solar Panel Energy Credits.
Since the world is moving more to renewable energy, solar energy has become a major thing. The world has really embraced the production of electricity using solar panels. This is pivoting away from use of things like coal that produces a lot of greenhouse gases that cause global warming. This is where opportunity for you to create a passive income comes in. You can set up your own solar panels to produce your own electricity. Some of this electricity you can use it in your premises and save on what you would pay for power.
However, to turn this into a passive income source you need to sell the power. Once you have used enough power for your premises, the extra power you can sell to neighbors or even the main power grid. Yes you can supply your extra power to the local or your country power grid by connecting to their grid. The fact that you do not have to do anything to produce solar power after initial installation, this makes it a passive income. Once you get your power supply systems connected, the power will keep flowing and you keep getting paid.
Idea #49. Carbon Credit Investments.
Am sure that if you have been living in the current world, you must have heard of carbon credits. I know many people do not understand what are carbon credits. So let me explain clearly what it is and how it works.
In the world of today, there some developed countries that produce a lot of greenhouse gases like CO2. The more industrialized a country is the more greenhouse gases they produce. Hence the more they cause global warming. On the other hand, the less developed countries produce less greenhouse gases. Hence these less developed countries cause less global warming. Due to this imbalance, the world leadership met and agreed on a system by which these big polluters have to be held accountable. The system is designed in a way that the bigger polluters, bear the bigger cost of cleaning the atmosphere.
So how does this work? Trees are known to consume CO2. Its simple biology i wont go into that. Hence trees clean the atmosphere of the CO2 which is a greenhouse gas. This means that trees reduce global warming. So what happens is those developed countries are willing to pay the developing countries to act as carbon sinks. What does this mean? Carbon sinks are forests that are used to consume millions or even billions of tons of carbon dioxide. Therefore, these big polluters are willing to pay the developing countries to compensate for their big pollution.
In most cases, it means that if you plant trees or forests, there are some countries or industries that would be willing to pay you to act as their carbon sinks. They produce the millions/billions of tons of carbon dioxide then you with your forest consumes those tons of CO2.
I know if you think about it critically, it sounds very sinister how that works. You know industries produce billions of tons of CO2 in say US then you consume that CO2 in say Africaππ. Also its very sinister that some countries remain industrialized and polluting then others remain as forests to consume the CO2. You know, some countries remain industrialized while others remain under-industrialized. Some countries remain rich and developed while others remain poor andΒ underdeveloped as carbon sinks. Instead of these developing countries planting food on their land, they plant trees just so as to act as carbon sinks for the industrialized countries.
Idea #50.Β Land Leasing.
Another great way that you can create a passive income using the green movement is through leasing your land. Leasing your land to industries and companies in the green movement. For example you can lease out your land to green energy companies. Say for example there is a company that wants to set up windmills to produce green energy, you can lease them your land.
In addition to that, you can also lease out your land to companies that are setting up solar panels for electricity production. Of course you know that those solar panels need to be set up somewhere and a safe place. We are not talking about a few solar panels, a few you can set them up even on your roof. We are talking about companies setting up so many solar panels to produce a lot of electricity.
In addition to that, you can also lease out your land to companies that want to plant forests for carbon sinks. We have explained this whole point of carbon sinks and forests above. Just refer to idea 49 above to understand leasing out your land for tree/forest planting.
Conclusion.
Now you know how you can join the green movement and create a passive income. You contribute to the saving of the world and also make money out of it. Help the world fight global warming as you make money out of it. This part brings the passive income ideas to 50. Come back again tomorrow for another part of this multipart series. Tomorrows part will be part 10. We will talk about Creative & Artistic Monetization passive income ideas.
